Tesla has a new Model Y for next year, which could bring a new 6-seat version produced in China in late 2025 according to a new report.

Last year, Tesla introduced a refreshed Model 3 with several new upgrades such as slim headlights and headlights. The interior was also improved with materials and added a new passenger screen.

Since then, customers have been expecting similar changes in Model Y. However, Tesla has denied a new launch for Model Y in 2024.

Tesla currently offers Model Y in five and seven-seat options. However, you’ll have to pay extra to access the later variant. Creating a refreshed seat variation for this car could garner some new interest.

The company has plans to produce the new Model Y at its Shanghai factory in China. It has also prepared an increase in component supplies for this new model adds the report.

The EV maker has pending approval for its plant expansion in Shanghai, which also ships Model 3 and Y models to Europe and other markets.

The current progress for the new Model Y goes under the codename “Juniper”, which will launch with a five-seater version in early 2025.

This revamp is also crucial for Tesla to keep selling new cars in China in the face of competition from domestic EV firms such as BYD, Xpeng, Nio, and others.

The company could expand Tesla sales by introducing Full Self Driving (FSD) to its Chinese customers. Earlier this year, Tesla CEO, Elon Musk visited the Asian country to meet Chinese regulators and process FSD licensing.

It’s expected that FSD could be launched in the market by the end of this year but yet to make this announcement official.
