2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 launched with new battery and NACS port
Hyundai has launched the 2025 IONIQ 5 electric vehicle including a new IONIQ 5 XRT version with increased battery capacity and driving range. This will be the first model to be produced at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia.
New IONIQ 5 models will be available at Hyundai dealerships starting fall. Additionally, the new XRT version will offer off-road capability and a more rugged appearance compared to the non-XRT variant.
The standard range models come with 58kWh to 63kWh and long-range models with 77.4kWh to 85 kWh battery capacities. These batteries will provide performance ranging from 250 to 310 miles in different variants.
This is the first EV that will enter the market with a native NACS port. It will allow customers to charge natively through 17,000+ chargers across the Supercharger network without an adapter.
However, the 2025 IONIQ 5 will be bundled with a Combined Charging System (CCS) adapter. The company has announced that all new and refreshed Hyundai EVs will now use NACS port starting the fourth quarter of this year.
Hyundai has prioritized the new XRT model above the non-XRT version. It will have a dual-motor AWD version with an 84kWh battery. The car has model-specific black 18-inch wheels, 235/60R 18 all-terrain tires, and XRT-exclusive front and rear fascias.
Hyundai has patched etched digital camouflage cladding, black side sills, an XRT logo embossed on the rear, XRT badged all-weather floor mats, black headliner, new exclusive colors, and more.
On the other hand, the non-XRT brings refreshed front and rear bumpers. It has a new spoiler, better aerodynamic wheels, and new interior colors.
Inside, you will find improved features with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. These models supported wireless over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
TAX Credit
The company has announced that these new models produced in the US will be eligible for a $3,750 tax credit. This credit could increase with future versions. Meanwhile, the car will qualify for a $7,500 credit from the beginning.
