Apple will bring a new Mac Mini device later this year and may remove USB-A to offer five USB-C ports.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said the Mac Mini will get a major shift in its final design. It will come with an M4 chipset to provide new performance.

The new Mac lineup includes Mac Mini, MacBook Pro, and iMac. However, the Mac Mini is likely to get a big design update among the three.

It was reported the Mac Mini could be the smallest Mac and desktop computer ever. It is mentioned that the new device could be half of the existing Mac Mini.

Specifically, it could be around the size of an Apple TV set-top box, which has a width and height of 3.66 inches and a 1.2-inch thickness. That’s half of what Mac Mini measures at 7.75 (height) x 7.75 inches (width) and 1.14-inch thickness.

Once produced, the size would surely surprise consumers for its space efficiency.

Gurman said the company will also change the input section with five USB-C ports. Three will be organized on the back and two on the front. On the other hand, Apple will remove USB-A.

Removing USB-A would make sense for the design side, as its module would take less space to support the new Mac Mini. However, the company will keep the power supply unit internal and customers won’t need a separate power brick to turn on the device.

There’s also some news about the supplies. The company will take supplies from China starting in September and expand supplies through global markets.

On the other hand, the high-end Mac Mini with M4 Pro chipset won’t be available until October.
