Apple
iPhone 17 Pro Max will bring 12GB RAM, better cooling and more
Apple will announce iPhone 16 Pro Max on September 9 but a new input regarding the iPhone 17 Pro Max suggests that the model will equip 12GB of RAM.
Supply Chain Analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo said that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have advanced features including the new RAM for improved on-device AI.
At WWDC24, Apple revealed new generative AI features that will improve user experience. These include the new writing tools and general language model for Siri voice assistant.
Some of these features are still under development and Apple’s generative AI will take more time to mature. So, we may not see its full effect on the iPhone 16 series. However, it might have a good impact on the next year’s iPhone 17 series.
Unlike Pro Max, the standard, Pro and Slim models will all have 8GB RAM.
Cooling System
Apple upgraded the cooling system in the iPhone 17 Pro Max with a combined vapor chamber (VC) technology and graphite sheets. On the other hand, the rest of the three models will only use graphite sheets for thermal management.
Internal heat has been a big problem in the iPhone 15 series and the company had to rollout a software update to fix those in the early days. However, the iPhone 16 series could have a better fix compared to its predecessor.
Prioritizing Specs
Kuo said the Pro Max variant is still the largest shareholder among all iPhones. Therefore, the company will keep on prioritizing specifications for this model. That includes a better camera, a bigger display, a larger battery, and other areas.
Pro Max also generates most of the revenue and profit. Hence, Apple will change the strategy and hardware for this device as soon as possible.
