Tesla Cybertruck in a Parking Lot

Tesla is rolling out the vision park assist feature for the Cybertruck and now, a user has published a detailed overview of its use case. This is not an auto park feature but it was developed to help complete this task with safe maneuvering.

Vision Park Assist displays high-fidelity 3D graphics of the area surrounding your Cybertruck. The feature visualizes numerous things in the proximity of your vehicle including nearby objects, barriers, vehicles, and painted road markings.

Well-known Tesla FSD user Chuck Cook has published a new video on YouTube to walkthrough Cybertruck’s auto park assist. The model was tested in a parking lot and Cook shared different angles of the pickup truck to demonstrate the parking accuracy and object detection.

The video shows that the vehicle accurately visualizes the parked cars and parking lines. The map has different colors to reflect distance zones and warnings such as red zone for stop. Furthermore, Cybertruck’s wheel by wire tech has received special attention in this feature by indicating the rear wheel’s rotation angles.

This video walkthrough has also revealed a few flaws. For example, the front drive parking is miscalculated and alerts the user before the actual distance.

This has happened throughout the video and the park assist map keeps showing a distance alert even when the vehicle has sufficient space from other vehicles or objects.

On the other hand, the rear parking worked accurately and only triggered an alert when the vehicle reached close to a car or an object.

Cook pointed out that the feature is not utilizing the bumper camera for the front parking. This could be the reason that the future is showing inaccurate distance.

It’s expected that the company could improve this flaw with a future software release.
