Tesla CEO shares first look inside Cortex AI supercomputer
Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared the first look inside an AI training supercomputer cluster named Cortex with all the advanced architecture and development made so far.
The 20-second video posted on social media site X showed racks including the AI chipsets. Most of the work in the wiring has been completed but the work is still in progress.
Earlier this year, Tesla started expansion of its HQ in Austin to house new AI training capabilities. The first part was to construct a building for the supercomputer.

The work on the Tesla AI cluster has started prior to xAI, Musk’s generative AI company. However, the EV company is likely to take a different approach to training compared to xAI.
The major implication of the new computing power will be credited to Full Self Driving (FSD) and Optimus robots. These two are the next-gen Tesla products, especially FSD, which is currently evolving.
Tesla is already using more than 40,000 Nvidia H100 chipsets to train FSD’s latest version 12 and it has seen massive improvements in driving experience and overall intelligence.
Adding extra training and the ability to advance further into data processing will help the company deliver more features to the end user. It appears that the cluster is ready and may be online very soon.
