Lucid is preparing to take the competition to Tesla with three new electric vehicles (EVs) that will launch in the affordable price segment.

CarBuzz reports that the company has two new models in the pipeline that will face off against the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y in the market. However, a third model will go beyond these two to increase sales.

Derek Jenkins, Senior Vice-President of Design and Brand of Lucid said that the company is working on a mid-size program that will introduce multiple vehicles. These new models will be more maneuverable.

Jenkins indicates the third vehicle will introduce a rugged design while keeping a sleek outlook. The company is aiming to merge both benefits into one.

The model will also focus on efficiency and aerodynamics to make it compatible with customer demand says Jenkins. The Lucid official has refrained from any specific information about the design at all.

However, he talked about Air and the upcoming Gravity SUV, saying that the Air has taken the range efficiency to the next level and Gravity will push it beyond.

Then he transitioned to the mid-size platform and said it would be lighter, quicker, and provide more space for passengers.

Currently, the Model 3 and Y are two of the most affordable EV models and their prices decline to the lowest with EV credit. However, the company has plans to navigate even more in this segment.

Hence, it’s preparing new affordable models that will launch next year. The company has scrapped plans for cheap cars and turned this idea to bring affordable models instead.

However, there’s not much information available about these new affordable Tesla or Lucid EVs.
