Tesla Cybertruck to start FSD journey with park assist features
Tesla is due to release FSD for Cybertruck but the company has now confirmed that the electric pickup truck will start its self-driving journey with park assist features.
Tesla AI and Autopilot Team’s Ashok Elluswamy said on Wednesday that Cybertruck will start FSD with parking assistance features. The function is prioritized for this vehicle due to its unique form factor and size.
Park Assist uses vehicle cameras on the front, rear, and sides of the vehicle to create a high-fidelity reproduction of surrounding objects on the touchscreen. The color visualization corresponds to the distance between the car and the object.
Tesla is currently testing FSD 12.5 and already revealed the changes that will come with a future release including FSD for Cybertruck.
Since its first deliveries in December, the company has released a couple of software updates for this steel-plated electric vehicle. However, it hasn’t gained access to self-driving technology despite showing it in the settings menu.
In that case, the company is keeping FSD for Cybertruck at a low priority given that it lacks a big customer base compared to Model 3 and Model Y.
However, the initial rollout for Cybertruck’s FSD could start by the end of this week and public release could be expected in September.
