SpaceX launches 116 satellites with 11th rideshare mission

SpaceX has launched the 11th major rideshare mission to Earth’s orbit with 116 satellites in the payload fairing. The Falcon 9 rocket carrying this mission ignited engines from Space Launch Complex 4E at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

Rideshare missions are designed to provide cost-effective satellite deployment services. These satellites are packaged together and share the cost of one launch reducing the cost of a single launch.

It enables deployment services through Sun-synchronous Orbit, Low Earth Orbit, and Polar Orbit. The company charges $300,000 for 50kg to SSO with additional mass at $6k/kg.

The upper stage carried 116 payloads with this flight including CubeSats, MicroSats, and an orbital transfer vehicle with eight of those payloads. Here are the satellites lifted with the 11th SpaceX Rideshare mission:

After hot-staging, the first stage landed on Landing Zone 4 at Vandenberg Space Force Base. This was the 12th flight for the booster.
