Connect+ launches for 1st and 2nd gen Rivian R1S/R1T

Electric vehicle (EV) maker Rivian has officially launched the Connect+ bundle for 1st and 2nd generation Rivian R1S and R1T models with monthly and annual subscriptions.

Connect+ is a collection of streaming and connectivity services for R1T and R1S owners. That includes music, audio, and video streaming. Here’s a summary of the services packaged under Connect+:

Apple Music

Users with Apple Music subscriptions can stream all songs and albums directly on the Rivian vehicle. Apple and Rivian are collaborating on this segment to make integration possible on R1S and R1T vehicles.

Customers can search and browse the Apple Music library on the large infotainment system and play them instantly.

Audible

Connect+ will let customers listen to Audible audio titles or podcasts while driving through their journey.

Google Cast and Youtube

Although Rivian has already announced these two apps for customers, the company is still keeping Google Cast & YouTube apps as “Coming Soon”.

Google Cast will allow Rivian owners to stream HD video content with the original sound quality from iPhone, Android, or tablet to the front display.

Other Streaming Apps

Rivian vehicles can stream integration apps too including Spotify, Tidal, and TuneIn. There are also other streaming services for listening to sports, music, podcasts, audiobooks, and other content.

Connectivity

Connect+ enhances connectivity and enables up to eight devices using on-vehicle LTE technology. Users can also view satellite images with on-screen navigation with Alexa Connected voice commands.

Spatial Audio

Customers can experience better sound with Rivian Premium Audio. This new capability allows spatial audio with Dolby Atmos and is optimized for vehicles to deliver high-quality audio with depth, clarity, and detail.

Connect+ Price

Connect+ is launched with a two-month trial for Rivian R1S and R1T vehicles. After trials, the Connect+ subscription will cost $14.99 per month or $149.99 per year.

You should know that this price doesn’t cover subscription fees for streaming services. Therefore, customers will need to manage those subscriptions separately. Interestingly, Rivian customers can get up to 90 days of free trial for Apple Music with an initial Connect+ purchase.
