The 6th gen Waymo car has appeared in the public for the first time wrapped in camouflage and featuring a lot of sensors. Images surfaced on social media site X (formerly Twitter) show the Zeekr model with new details.

The front of the car has rectangular headlights, a taxi look that goes to the back with windows all around. The images show a whole lot of sensors equipped in this car. The front has radar, there are two sensor modules placed right above the front wheels. The top part has a Lidar module to map the street and navigate the car.

There are two camera modules with other sensors on each of the two rear sides. There is one parking sensor on the rear as well. The on-board label confirms that it is an autonomous vehicle and is currently under test in Michigan.

Back in June, Waymo officially announced that it was testing the 6th-generation driver with a new sensor and validation. An official image shared by the company also matches this car with in-built sensors.

In 2021, Waymo announced a partnership with Geely for its electric Zeekr brand vehicle designed in Sweden for autonomous ride-hailing services. Previous information shows Waymo has integrated Waymo Driver technologies into this transportation-as-service (Taas)-optimized Zeekr vehicle.

This is a rider-first vehicle and features a flat floor for accessible entry, easy ingress and B-pillarless design, low step-in height, head and legroom, and adjustable seats. Waymo One will bring an interior without a steering wheel and pedals with improved headroom, legroom, and reclining seats, screens, and chargers for a configurable and comfortable cabin.

For now, the new car is in the test phase and Waymo will take some time to verify all of its technologies before launching the 6th gen car for customers.
