iPhone 17 Slim design to sacrifice camera performance
Apple is working on an iPhone 17 Slim model for next year and will primarily focus on design rather than heavy lift performance in segments such as camera.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that the iPhone 17 will launch next September as the new fourth model. Next year’s iPhone will have three variants – Standard, Pro, and Pro Max and Slim will be the fourth edition.
This year, Apple will bring new upgrades to the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, Pro, and Pro Max. These devices will look almost identical to the predecessor but there will be new display panels for the Pro lineup.
A report reveals that iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will use 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screens respectively. Meanwhile, the standard and Plus variants will equip 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display respectively.
This year, the iPhone will drive casual like the previous year with some substantial improvements. Next year, the company will revamp the lineup with iPhone 17 Slim to resonate with customers.
Since Apple has only a few models to offer, the company doesn’t want to expand the number of devices to more than four. On the other hand, it wants to make sense of each model available in the store.
If we look back to 2020, the Cupertino-based tech firm has already attempted to change the options by bringing the iPhone 12 mini. This device had the smallest size among all of its counterparts with an effective price.
The idea behind iPhone 17 Slim is to create a light version of the iPhone series. This model aims to lower weight and slim the outlook. This model is crafted to sit between iPhone 17 and 17 Pro. Therefore, it won’t be much of a deal in terms of performance. In that segment, the iPhone 17 will have a moderate screen size and decent camera quality.
That makes sense, as clipping the phone’s width and weight won’t be possible without removing some heavy modules including the camera system.
There’s more information to know about iPhone 17 Slim and we’ll have plenty of time to see more of these details dropping out until it launches next year.
