Lucid will release OTA update with ADAS, lane change, app improvements, and more

Lucid will rollout a new software update for the Air electric sedan and will bring improvements for ADAS, lane change, mobile app, and more.

While announcing the second quarter 2024 earning results, Peter Rawlinson, CEO of Lucid said that the company is working on a new over-the-air (OTA) software.

The content of this upgrade includes enhancements for the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) and will add new features such as hands-free highway assist, lane change assist, curb rash assist, and more.

Lucid launched ADAS technologies under “Lucid DreamDrive”, which combines a sensors suite with a driver monitoring system for all Air sedans. This luxury EV equips 32 sensors including camera, radar, and ultrasonic sensors, and long-range, high-resolution LIDAR installed on the front of the car.

The DreamDrive is built upon an Ethernet Ring in the architecture for key features such as steering, brakes, sensors, and more. That includes power sources, communication paths, fail-operational actuators, and fault-tolerant computation.

  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Alerts for distracted or drowsy drivers

Driving Features:

  • Full speed highway assist
  • Traffic drive-off alert
  • Headlight assist

Parking Features

  • Autonomous parking assist
  • Pullout control
  • maneuver comfort braking

The company is also developing a new update to improve user experience including the new user interface. Furthermore, new features will be added to the mobile app.

“I think customers are going to be delighted. We’re making a really big push on many aspects of our user interface software. So, despite the market dynamics, we are making inroads, making constant improvements, and gaining market share with Air” said Rawlinson.

Last month, Lucid pushed a 2.3.0 software update for Air including enhancements for infotainment, dynamic power gauge, DreamDrive, cross traffic protection warning, charging, and lucid mobile app. Read more about this release below.
