Apple is sending a beta 3 software update for iOS 18 public testers and it comes with new improvements and optimizations over 2nd version released last month. iOS 18 Public Beta 3 OTA software is rolling out.

You can download the iOS 18 public beta 3 over the air (OTA) by going into Settings > General > Software update > Select iOS 18 Public Beta and download the on-screen update package.

Unfortunately, this beta doesn’t bring Apple Intelligence features. This is due to the fact that the company is preparing these generative AI capabilities with iOS 18.1.

The company will send iOS 18 as an introductory software when it releases for all iPhones this fall but Apple Intelligence features will remain exclusive to a few phones. That includes the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max and the upcoming iPhone 16 models.

The Cupertino-based tech giant says that only the recently released top-tier iPhone can run these new AI features based on their newest silicon to provide the power required to run them in a device.

This statement draws the fact that old devices are too eligible to run these features but might lack optimum user experience due to insufficient processing capabilities.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealed that the iPhone 16 series will also run iOS 18 out of the box but Apple Intelligence features will only appear after the 18.1 OTA upgrade.

Talking about AI for a bit, iOS 18.1 developer beta has some of these features such as AI writing tools that help you to write efficiently and correctly in different tones. It can now show the mail summary and extract important stuff.

Still, major additions such as generative emojis, stickers, and above-advanced Siri are missing. It’s expected that Apple isn’t ready to bring Siri onboard, not just yet.

Therefore, the company could take more time probably the end of this year or the next year to install new Siri on iOS 18 devices.

Despite all of these, if you are an iPhone user, the iOS 18 public beta is a great way to test new features without waiting for Apple Intelligence. However, you should know that beta software is unstable and may contain bugs. Thus, you should install this beta on your secondary device or it’s better to wait for the full release.
