Apple iOS 18.1 Beta 1

Apple is rolling out the first beta software release from iOS 18.1 providing Apple Intelligence features preview for developers.

The iPhone maker first announced Apple Intelligence at the WWDC 24 event in June. This suite of features is based on generative artificial intelligence, which means you can do sort of things with improved efficiency.

For example, it can help you write better and in different tones. On the other hand, you can generate images or ask Siri for an answer in general language.

However, Apple doesn’t plan to release all features for every iPhone except the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max from the previous lineup. Also, the upcoming iPhone 16 series will endorse Apple Intelligence out of the box.

iOS 18 will roll out for all iPhone users this fall but the company remains cautioned over the specific version. A report from Bloomberg suggests that base iOS 18 may not bring Apple Intelligence for 15 Pro and Pro Max when the software goes online.

Therefore, it will need additional upgrades such as iOS 18.1 to bring AI onboard. Even with that, some half-baked features, such as the new Siri, need more time for a full release next year.

“This beta introduces an initial set of features powered by Apple Intelligence” mentioned in the changelog.

Developers will need to jump to Settings and enable these features but there’s a waitlist to join. You can do so by entering “Settings” and “Apple Intelligence & Siri”. Here you can tap on the “Join the Apple Intelligence Waitlist” to open a pop-up screen with the confirmation button.

But there’s a stipulation, you need to set the device language and Siri language to US English and the region must be set to United States. The changelog also mentioned that the new AI features are not yet available for European and Chinese developers.
