In a surprising turn of events, Tesla is not sending FSD version 12.5.1 to customers in the US. The upgrade comes within 5 days of the 12.5 rollout.

FSD 12.5 has improved a couple of aspects compared to 12.3 and 12.4 including fluency and accuracy of the real-time decision and object recognition. Early 12.5 impressions suggest pauses, turns, and acceleration have been smoothened.

But this new branch has more to offer, unfortunately, the initial release doesn’t unboxes those changes. Instead, the company is waiting for further versions. The FSD 12.5 is limited to some users, who opted for advanced features access.

The new FSD 12.5.1 is part of software update 2024.20.15 and it’s rolling out to new users. However, the scale of this release is unknown. The changelog has not changed a bit more than the prior update. Therefore, we can’t confirm which pending feature is coming to the FSD users.

To be mentioned, Tesla has promised more natural lane change decisions with the new FSD version. Vision-based driver attention monitoring system will get sunglass support based on user feedback. There might be new optimizations coming to the monitoring system but we’ll have to wait for them.

High and city software stacks will be combined for a smoother transition. Finally, FSD will debut on the Cybertruck electric pickup truck.

Moreover, Tesla CEO, Elon Musk recently said that the company is working on smart summon and could be tagged along with 12.5.x versions. However, it may only be available somewhere in August.
