XPENG and Volkswagen have announced new progress in preparations for the development of new electric vehicle (EV) architecture.

In April, both companies signed a framework agreement to collaborate on Electrical/Electronic Architecture (E/E Architecture) for EVs. Based on this partnership, Xpeng and Volkswagen Group have set up a “Project House” facility in Guangzhou, China.

This new architecture will be based on the Volkswagen China Main Platform (CMP) and Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) platform. Furthermore, both firms are seeking new ways to expand their collaboration for this jointly developed E/E architecture.

Details about the initial agreement show that both automakers are aligned to develop software, supply chain, and new BEV models.
