Tesla CEO shares Optimus robot’s estimated production and date

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the Optimus humanoid robot will achieve quality production next year and also shared plans to increase output in 2026.

It was reported that the company has already deployed two robots at Gigafactory for testing purposes. Next year, Tesla will achieve low-level production for internal use but didn’t reveal any specific numbers at the moment.

Last month at the Annual Stockholders Meeting, the Tesla chief said his company is aiming for more than 1,000 Optimus robot deployments Gigafactories by 2025. This completes the missing number in the low-level production.

The production rate for internal use will enable the company to test the robots and train them for industrial work. By the end of 2025, Optimus is likely to gain knowledge of manufacturing and production services inside the facility. Thus clearing its way to industry-wide adaption.

This brings us to the point that the EV maker is expected to mass-produce this robot for other companies and customers in 2026. After fulfilling internal requirements, Tesla could drastically improve the production rate for customers.

A week ago, Musk announced new upgrades for the Optimus’ design. Specifically, Tesla wants to improve the bot’s anatomy and make it more flexible. It will be possible after Optimus gets 22 DoF (degree of freedom) for better maneuverability.

Industry observer believes Optimus will be a growth driver and it could lead its market by $45.5 trillion in the future. However, the bot has yet to make a full-fledged debut to test its capabilities in a real environment.
