FSD 12.5 rolling out with combined software stack and more

Tesla is now rolling out FSD 12.5 for employees and public users allowing them to experience the newest improvements. Aside from the initial release, the company will wide-scale this version in the coming weeks.

Earlier today, X (formerly Twitter) user @TSLA808 shared a screenshot on the site and confirmed that 12.5 is now available. The user has not shared any further details about the model but a screenshot shows that 12.5 is part of the 2024.20.10 software update.

Soon after, user @DirtyTesLa posted a changelog for this release for customer cars. It means you can dive into your car’s settings and check for a new software update.

Unfortunately, there are not much of new changes in the features segment. However, we have some information that you can explore regarding this version.

FSD 12.5

It’s reported that FSD 12.5 will combine city and highway stack. This change follows customer feedback and a recent issue while transitioning between the two traffic and road scenarios. Therefore, a combined software stack could help Tesla perform better in navigation and maneuvers compared to two separate stacks.

This new build will also debut Full Self-Driving into Cybertruck, which has been missing from this electric pickup truck since its deliveries. By the time of writing this article, no Cybertruck owners have received FSD 12.5 but i will update this section as soon as it happens.

The electric vehicle maker is also keen on improving the new vision-based driver monitoring system and adding an exception for hands-free driving while wearing sunglasses. Once again, no such changes are mentioned in the changelog.

I’ve been expecting this release to happen next month but it appears that Tesla’s developer staff is working quite fast to surprise all FSD users. Still, the expansion may take some time to cover all of the FSD base.
