Tesla FSD 12.5: Release Date and Features
Tesla is preparing version 12.5 as the next major software release for Full Self Driving (FSD) to date and has some new features to provide a new experience for customers.
FSD 12.5 will combine city and highway software stacks. The company is taking this step to respond to previous user feedback about facing issues transitioning from city to highway and highway to city roads and traffic.
The company uses separate software stacks to function around these two conditions. However, a single software stack will create a seamless transition between city and highway driving.
A combined stack will improve efficiency in decision-making and utilize system resources to its fullest. On the other hand, it will be able to understand highway dynamics including speed changes alongside city traffic such as intersections, pedestrians, and complex situations.
This will also improve efficiency on the development side and help maintain a single software stack would be easier than two. This may also speed up the development phase and patch bugs compared to existing FSD versions.
The combined software stack will help to train and transfer object recognition, lane transfer, and identifying driver behavior knowledge. This new combination will improve the two different traffic and road systems. But it will also be an initial challenge. Merging the software stack will introduce some temporary bugs and require thorough testing to ensure everything goes in the right direction.
We’ve also seen footage of FSD 12.5 city-to-highway transition and making some unsafe turns. You can check them linked below.
Here is the clip you have been asking for. Tesla ADAS Operators validating FSD (Supervised) v12.5 today. Two things I noticed, the question mark shaped maneuver is back, and lots of right turns. Cybertruck
This new version will also make the FSD debut on Cybertruck. Tesla CEO, Elon Musk has confirmed that FSD 12.5 will enable self-driving in this electric pickup truck.
Currently, Cybertruck is showing FSD in the settings but the UI won’t let you access it because it’s disabled.
FSD 12.5 Release Date
Tesla is still verifying this upcoming build and the company will need some time to test the version internally before it could go public.
With that being said, the electric vehicle maker may choose 12.5 to release in August. However, it’s hard to say when.
