Tesla Full Self Driving (FSD) 12.5

Tesla CEO, Elon Musk has affirmed that Full Self Driving (FSD) version 12.5 will include Cybertruck electric pickup truck.

Currently, the company is seeding a new driver monitoring system for FSD users, allowing drivers to experience hands-free experience for longer time stamps. But 12.5 will be special, as referenced by the Tesla chief himself. This version will enable a combined software stack for cities and highways. A single code will allow the car to navigate urban areas with complex intersections, pedestrians, cyclists, and highways with high speeds and fewer obstacles.

A unified software stack will make a smoother transition between these environments. The vehicle will not need to switch between separate systems to reduce the risk of mistakes. With a single codebase, developers can create a better driving experience and make it more efficient.

This new improvement will lead to standardization in self-driving technology. It will make collaborating and developing compatible systems easier for different manufacturers. However, this merger will be complex and the company will have to verify the core capabilities of the unified stack.

This merger is also important as the company could use FSD for its Robotaxi product. It will be the first self-driving commercial car. Assuring a smooth transition between roads will be important for FSD and Robotaxi customers.

Other than stack combination, Tesla will debut FSD for Cybertruck. This tech has been missing from the truck since its first deliveries because the company is not prioritizing FSD development for this vehicle. Instead, it focuses on Model 3 and Model Y owners, its largest customer base.

There may be other optimizations that will come with this release but we’ll have to wait for more information.
