Mercedes-Benz and Starbucks to build EV charging network across 100 stores in the US

Mercedes-Benz and Starbucks have announced a strategic collaboration to build DC fast electric vehicle (EV) chargers for over 100 Starbucks stores across the US.

The first phase of this partnership will include 400 kW EV chargers at stores located along Interstate 5 (1-5), west coast travel corridor expanding from Canada to Mexico.

This collaboration aims to improve the charging experience for all of the EV users. Starbucks’s energy projects include EV charging to reduce carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2030.

Starbucks customers will be able to charge while visiting and enjoying their favorite beverage. These new charging sites will be built by Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging, which opened its first site in November 2023.

This was part of its initial $1 billion investment to build a charging network. Since then, the network continue to progress with more than 400 kW charging speed.

These are opened at dozens of locations across Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky. The company expected to expand the network to nearly half of the US states by the next 12-18 months.
