First electric Ferrari already drove thousands of miles for next year’s debut

Ferrari is preparing to launch its first electric car in the market which may not arrive until next year but the model has already measured thousands of miles of test drives to verify its performance.

In an interview with Autocar, Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari said that the company wants to debut this EV as early as next year followed by a sale in 2026.

There are several challenges surrounding its design and production. Test drives are essential to detect the prototype’s driving capabilities and powertrain. It also helps to check the driving range and efficiency on the road. Because that’s the car essentially does, Drive.

However, Ferrari has to maintain its reputation, and as a supercar maker, launching a new EV is not the only task but delivering a Ferrari performance is. Vigna said electric prototypes are driving on the road and already completed several thousand kilometers. These driving tests are conducted by “very qualified clients” as test drivers.

“First clients of our cars are the test drivers,” said Ferrari CEO.

These test drivers help drive and compare between one and another, and notifies changes to improve the prototype performance.

A previous report suggests that this Ferrari EV will cost around 500,000 euros and the company is also working on a second model which will be released later. Vigna, on the other hand, didn’t confirm this information and remained low-key. It’s expected that the first EV will be built on its Maranello campus and the company will advance the production line in January 2025.

The supercar company will keep releasing internal combustion, hybrid, and electric models based on customer demand.
