Tesla app is a useful tool to manage your EV through mobile but recently, users have reported a strange bug that is encroaching GBs of internal storage.

Screenshots shared on Reddit and X confirmed that the issue affected Android users and appeared after 4.34.5. Although the version is available for Android and iOS devices, no iPhone users have appeared with such a scenario. According to the changelog, the 4.34.5 brings fixes and improvements for a better user experience. There are no significant changes made to the user interface.

The images confirm user data occupation of 10s of GBs which goes up to 25GB and more. However, there’s no clue what is causing such a dramatic increase in internal storage.

“Why is my Tesla app using 14GB in user storage? It is the highest storage user on my Pixel 8 Pro. My app controls 2 cars and a PowerWall installation with 2 units. Any ideas? I could clear storage and resume but I don’t want to lose any functionality.” wrote one user.

“The Tesla app on my android phone is using over 11GB of storage. I have no idea what it’s up to with all this data, I mostly use it to unlock and heat/cool a car. How do I get it to use less??” wrote another user. Meanwhile, the storage is not filled in the file manager, instead, the app assumes such size in the label in some cases.

Some Reddit users argue that the memory has been filed by sentry mode footage but there’s no such case confirmed. Some users also suggested to fix the issue by clearing the cache and starting from scratch.

This issue has been reported by a decent number of Tesla owners. However, the core of this problem remains unknown. Such an issue might be a result of some bugs inside the recent version but we’ll wait for more details.
