Apple has released the iOS 18 beta 3 for developers with several new changes over the previous build. The latest build comes after two weeks of beta 2 rollout.
The beta update is available only for developers and Apple will open the iOS 18 public beta this month for people who want to test this OS before a stable release. Although the changelog for iOS 18 Beta 3 remains cryptic, it still added a few new things.
The new version brings dark mode to automatically adopt the dark theme for all home screen app icons. You can also personalize dynamic color filters for the wallpaper enhanced based on the color of the wallpaper. The new dynamic setting will change the wallpaper’s color based on the time of the day.
Torch UI has been improved to show you more intuitive animations when you interact using slide and swipe gestures in this new beta.
Released at WWDC24, iOS 18 is the biggest update for iPhones. That includes a new control center with redesigned user interface. This part of the UI separates key controls to different screens and allows users to edit these buttons with a control gallery. Such capability isn’t available in iOS 17 and prior versions.
Another major UI change draws attention to the app icon and home screen management section. You can now apply color schemes to the app icons including tints, dark, and light. You can also change the size of the icons to increase their visibility. To improve personalization, the system now lets you shift app icons without restrictions or grid constraints.
Photos app is getting new changes to improve the media management and easy sorting features. Generative AI is another major aspect of the iOS 18 and the features will release this fall for iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. While the new AI features will remain exclusive to these two models, the company will release rest of the capabilities for all of the eligible iPhones.
