Ford Capri EV is launching this week ‘The Legend Is Back’

Ford has officially announced that the Ford Capri will make a comeback as an EV this week. The company has organized an unveiling on July 10, 2024, to reveal a new avatar of this legendary car.

A video teaser online shows a fuel version of Capri. Its driver opened the fuel door and tried to refuel using an EV charger. However, the efforts didn’t work the way the driver expected. A camera recorded this scenario and the driver drove away soon after he realized it.

The rear window of the car had “The legend is back 10.07.24” written in white and similar information appears on the parking ground as soon as it leaves that place. That was quite a teaser and including an aged driver was a good addition to the situation.

Capri is a mid-size coupe built by Ford Europe and designed by Philip T Clark, also known for his contribution to the Mustang design. The car was produced between 1968 and 1986.

It measured at 168.5-inch length, 64.8-inch width, and 50.7-inch height. The wheelbase is 100.8-inch and the curb weight is 2,053 lb (931 kg). These dimensions changed in new versions. The original Capri used engines throughout its production including Essex and Cologne V6 in top models.

Capri sold 400,000 units in the first two years. Ford revised the car in 1971 and improved its suspension, and tail-lights, and added comfortable seats. The new model also brought large headlamps and separate indicators and changed to quad headlamps on the 3000GXL model.

In the coming years, the automaker upgraded the car with better aerodynamics and engine power with Capri MK II and MK III. Ford also introduced better fuel tank capacity and driving experience for customers in new models.

For now, Ford has not revealed the electric platform for Capri EV but there could be more information that we may see at the unveiling.
