Volvo EX30 software issues might not make it Chevy Blazer Part II

It’s been a year since its revelation and Volvo EX30 is yet to launch in some electric vehicle (EV) market but its software issues are creating discomfort among owners.

Users have reported that the infotainment screen has gone black and steering-wheel buttons have become irresponsive. In some cases, the car stopped charging and automatically activated emergency braking.

Images and screenshots of the bugs surrounding this EV confirmed its frozen interface. In some scenarios, the car shows incorrect information including estimated range and settings reverted to default.

These issues led EX30 owners in the UK to return their vehicles to Volvo for full refunds reports Autocar. The automaker says the problem has been acknowledged and the company is working on a solution. Volvo mentioned that a small group is affected but hasn’t revealed the exact numbers.

EVs rely on software to enable their key features such as climate control, headlights, wing mirrors, and more. Last month, the carmaker reportedly postponed EX30’s deliveries in the U.S. The new launch timeline comes after the company shifted focus to save tariffs imposed by the US government on Chinese-imported EVs.

The company was previously slated to launch this vehicle in the US in 2024. However, this roadmap has changed to 2025 due to high tariff rates. This date would also give Volvo a chance to fix these software bugs before the EX30 widens sales efforts and help it not become a Chevy Blazer EV.

The Blazer EV has been facing software issues soon after its deliveries. The company had to temporarily pause sales due to various bugs. GM eventually resumed Blazer’s sale but the software glitch caused a lot of damage to the model before it could make an impact in the EV market.
