Apple has apparently reached a partnership round with Google and may soon adopt the Gemini Large Language Model (LLM) for the iOS operating system.

In his latest Weekly Newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that Apple is likely to announce a deal with Google Gemini this fall. Last month, Apple made a move toward generative AI technologies with “Apple Intelligence”. The company has designed numerous features for new operating systems.

It also formed a partnership with leading AI company OpenAI to use ChatGPT in new iOS, macOS, and iPadOS. These softwares will be released later this year. However, the iPhone maker doesn’t want to continue OpenAI as an exclusive partner and talking to other companies including Google.

The conversation between Google and OpenAI started simultaneously but Apple only reached terms with the ChatGPT maker. In the meantime, it kept the talks open for Google for a future deal.

These massive LLMs will enable Apple to provide vast cloud-processed computing training for its device users. There’s also a report that Meta and Apple are in contact for Llama chatbot collaboration but that deal was called off recently.

Furthermore, the Cupertino-based tech company is seeking other players including Anthropic in the US and Baidu in China. Aside from OpenAI, the company has not made an official announcement about these partnerships.
