Apple reportedly ordered 100 million chipsets for iPhone 16 series

This year’s iPhone 16 will bring new chipsets for generative artificial intelligence (AI) manufactured with 100 million units production by TSMC.

Taiwan’s CTEE reports that the iPhone 16 series chip will be processed with the 3-nanometer process (N3E), FinFlex technology to improve performance and increase power efficiency. Aside from improvements, the company has also increased the orders for the A18 chipset and M4 series for the second half of this year.

iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will equip TSMC’s N3E process technology and A18 Pro on iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models. The chipset will be 15 to 20 percent larger and bring more GPU and APU.

Apple will be the largest TSMC customer in 2024 and the largest revenue generator for the Taiwanese firm. This year’s iPhone 16 series will bring four different screen sizes including:

  1. iPhone 16 – 6.1-inch
  2. iPhone 16 Plus – 6.7-inch
  3. iPhone 16 Pro – 6.3-inch
  4. iPhone 16 Pro Max – 6.9-inch

All of these models are expected to feature 8GB RAM to support AI features onboard. Apple will release iPhone 16 series in the second half fo this year.
