Rivian has released feature-packed software updates for Rivian R1T and R1S electric vehicles (EV) with firmware version 2024.19.04.

The Normal Illinoise-based EV maker is working on new software improvements for these two flagship models. The latest addition is not an exception to this strategy with over-the-air (OTA) upgrades.

The 2024.19.04 also has a new range of changes that Rivian R1T and R1S owners should get on board as soon as it arrives.

Refreshed UI

The company has redesigned vehicle apps using 3D cell shading via Unreal Engine for a dynamic user interface. These changes in the UI are adapted system-wide and the mobile app.

Driver display now includes a power bar, gear indicator, and navigation for improved visibility. The software package also brings a new “Adventure” font for the entire UI.

Blind Spot Monitoring

A live camera view is added to the blind spot monitoring to show the vehicle’s side area when you activate a turn signal. This feature helps you to change lanes and turn with more on-road visibility.

This option is enabled by default and you can turn it off from Settings > Driver+.

Climate Control

R1T and R1S users can experience new climate controls including vent presets for one-tap positioning of the face vents. Access to side mirror heating has been improved.

  1. Vent positions improved for consistent saving and restoration after the vehicle sleeps.
  2. Climate control performance improvement in sunny conditions.
  3. Fixed an issue that caused the rear window defrost setting to toggle rapidly.

New Suspension Software

This section of the software could be the most exciting as it ramps up ride comfort. The 2024.19.04 update tuned damping for all Rivian drive modes and re-tuned Ride Feel options for different body control settings.

Rivian is improving software sensing and adding automatic adjustment for damping control oriented for different load scenarios. That includes passengers, gear, or when towing a trailer. Terrain management is smoothened for uneven and rough roads. Pitch management is improved during acceleration and braking for smooth launch off the line and reduced nosedive during deceleration.

Auto Software Update

Your Rivian can now install automatic software updates. This change is now online for center display and Rivian mobile app 2.10.0. With this addition, you schedule installation for later or at a specific time. To manage these auto-updates, go to Settings > Vehicle > Updates.

Rivian vehicles will wait eight hours from downloading the software and the installation phase. This will ensure that you are aware of the installation schedule.

Google Maps

Additionally, Rivian is paying some attention to the map navigation and improved the quality of the Google Map search results in the navigation app.

Improvements and Fixes

You can now use a trailer profile in the vehicle’s center display to plan a towing trip with Rivian mobile app version 2.10.0 or later. The app has a default trailer profile that you can use in case there’s no profile available.

Rivian is enhancing the look of turn signal indicators and making them easy to notice. Infotainment is getting new fixes for the media panel, and the live camera view, which freezes when you switch between day and night mode.

A new fix was applied for a rare issue that prevents the charge port door from opening. It fixes an issue that made the Vehicle Shipping mode text less visible in the title bar of the Vehicle > Service panel. Last but not least, Rivian has improved proximity lock and unlock tuning for iPhone 15 Pro Max.

This software comes in batches and it may take some time to cover all of the R1T and R1S users.
