xAI Grok 1.5 rolling out for users

Artificial Intelligence company xAI is rolling out the Grok 1.5 version for X users. This new large language model brings improvements in performance and reasoning.

Grok is a large language model (LLM) designed and developed by xAI and launched in November last year. Since then, the Grok chatbot became available for X Premium+ and later expanded to Premium users.

The deep integration enables mobile and web users to access Grok directly from the side menu (web) and the bottom bar (mobile). In March, Grok received its first major upgrade “Grok-1.5” with long context understanding and advanced reasoning.

The 1.5 version brings up to 128,000 tokens in the context window. It enables Grok to have an increased memory capacity of up to 16 times of Grok 1. During this launch, the company promised to release the 1.5 build for X users but the version rollout remained limited to a few users. That being said it took over two and half months to rollout Grok 1.5.

To check the latest Grok version, open the X app on mobile, tap the Grok menu, and open Grok modes in the middle of the top bar. There you can see the latest Grok version below regular and fun modes.
