Kia will launch its first electric sedan EV4 in March 2025 aiming to fulfill the affordable electric vehicle (EV) demand in the global market.

ETNews reports Kia is preparing development and production lines for EV4’s mass production. The South Korean car company has already developed a prototype last month.

Since then, Kia has been testing the prototype in public in Korea as well as overseas. These test drives will be evaluated by the end of this year and help the company to amend mass production plans by February 2025. The final mass production is scheduled for March 2025 at Gwangmyeong Plant 2 with a minimum of 70,000 units.

Last month, Kia released the EV3 compact electric SUV with its first sale in July. This model is expected to add 100,000 units in production and these two EVs could reach a total of 170,000 units.

Furthermore, the Hyundai Group subsidiary can opt for local production to meet the demand for the US and other markets. Kia EV4 will be the fifth EV after EV9, EV6, EV5, and EV3. The car will use the E-GMP EV platform designed and developed by Hyudai for electric cars. Its concept was introduced at the EV Day event in October 2023 and garnered a good response from visitors.

Its design and aesthetics align with the other Kia models. Its battery is likely to match EV3, which takes the long-range model to 501 kilometers featuring an 81.4kWh battery. The standard version comes with a 58.3kWh battery pack.

Aside from the exterior, these two new cars will bring an attractive price point for consumers. The EV3 starts at 39.95 million KRW (28,696 USD), which is very appealing for the EV market. However, Kia has not confirmed its availability outside of Korea. On the other hand, the price of EV4 is unknown.
