Tesla has relaunched the Full Self-Driving (FSD) transfer program for customers in the US. Existing Tesla owners can transfer the FSD capability to a new model for more than 2 months.

The latest development comes a week after Tesla CEO, Elon Musk announced to resume the program at the customer’s request. During the 2024 Tesla Stockholders Day event, Musk said his company would enable the transfers for a quarter.

Information shows FSD transfers are open for Model 3, Y, S, and X in the US. You can claim free transfers on a new model from June 24 to August 31, 2024. That’s about 67 days, which is not an entire quarter. Still, it’s a long duration for customers to grab a new Tesla without a separate FSD subscription.

The new input is coming from Tesla representatives and is yet to be published on the official website. But you can contact the Tesla store to learn more about the transfers.

This offer is available alongside Federal tax incentives on eligible models including Tesla Model 3 Long Range, Performance, and all Model Y.

FSD enables Tesla cars to drive through traffic and maneuver automatically. It uses advanced hardware to detect pedestrians and other moving objects to react in real-time. However, FSD is not a fully autonomous driving system and requires a human driver behind the wheel to take control in complicated road/traffic scenarios.

Tesla began a new wave of FSD transfers with Korea on June 14, 2024. Then, in Japan for an entire quarter until September 30, 2024. Now, it’s landing in North America starting in the U.S.

Customers participating in this program can transfer FSD capability for once. The transfer will be completed within a week of the new vehicle delivery. Once processed, the transfer cannot be reversed or redeemed for cash. You need to have a legal ownership of the existing with FSD capability.
