This year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will be on June 23 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The race has 156 turns and a 4,720-foot climb to the mountain summit. Rivian will be the only automaker in this year’s competition with a production EV.
The model has custom paint with different colors and stripes to highlight the racing theme with the “21” badge. Gardner Nichols, Senior Performance Test Engineer at Rivian will drive the Refreshed R1T Quad-Motor. This new version has in-house motors to accelerate a 12.42-mile road.
It equips a new powertrain to deliver 1,025 horsepower and 1,198 lb-ft torque that takes 0-60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds. This expands a quarter-mile in 10.5 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph. The development of this new quad-motor EV is a result of close collaboration between hardware and software teams.
