Polestar announces expansion into seven new markets through 2025

Swedish electric vehicle (EV) maker Polestar has announced an expansion plan into seven new markets. The car company will add retail operations across these new countries through 2025.

The company will introduce new EVs in France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Thailand and Brazil. The step is part of Polestar’s shift to a non-genuine agency sales model across Europe. Customers can still configure and order a Polestar online and through new Polestar Spaces and service locations for new models.

The company has switched to a non-genuine agency sales model this month in Sweden and Norway, while other markets will follow this roadmap in the second half of the year. Among the new markets, Germany and France are the two largest volume countries for EVs in Europe. The company will also acquire local distribution partnerships in other countries.

Anders Gustafsson will take over Gregor Hembrough as Head of North America with 13 years of experience at Volvo Cars. He was the Senior Vice President of America and President and CEO of Volvo Cars USA. Prior to Anders, Gregor led Polestar North America since 2018 and enabled strategic and operational leadership as Head of Global Sales Operations.

Another change in management includes Matt Galvin as managing director of the UK succeeding Jonathan Goodman. He was previously appointed as Managing Director of NIO UK his 22-year career in the automotive industry includes senior roles in the UK at Volvo Cars and Mercedes-Benz.

Through these appointments, we are strengthening our sales teams and bringing in additional expertise at a pivotal point in our development, as our model line-up expands to include two new SUVs,” said Kristian Elvefors, Polestar Head of Commercial.
