Apple will launch a new smartwatch size with the upcoming Watch Series 10 and take it to the next level with a 49mm display, an increase from Watch Series 9.

Supply Chain Analyst, Ming Chi-Kuo said the next-gen Apple Watch will bring design upgrades. It will be highly focused on thickness reduction and screen size improvement with a large panel. Kuo revealed that this new lineup will offer two models 49mm and 45mm from 41mm and 45mm in Series 9.

The larger version will have 49mm and 45mm size for the standard Apple Watch Series 10. There is no information about 41mm or whether the company will axe this size completely. As of last year, Apple only released two watch sizes and Series 10 may not be different.

The new design will cut down the thickness of the Watch Series 10 despite screen size enhancements. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also suggests that this year’s Watch series will be notably thinner but exact dimensions remain unknown.

Meanwhile, the Watch Series 9′ 45mm version has a 45mm height, 38mm width, and 10.7mm thickness. The 41mm version expands at 41mm height, 35mm width, and 10.7mm thickness. Notice that the depth in both of these models is the same. Reducing the thickness may improve the user experience but a larger variant might gain slight weight.

Ultra

Coming to Ultra, the Analyst suggests that Watch Ultra 3 is likely to remain the same as its predecessor. However, the company would introduce new color options with black and dark themes.

Supplier

This year, Apple plans to use components produced using 3D printing technology. This tech was proposed last year but failed to meet expectations. After testing and verification, the technology is reportedly ready to use for this year’s watches.

China’s BLT will supply these components with 3D printers in-house. 3D printing is cost-efficient and its market is expected to rise in the near future. Apple may be the first major customer of this technology and will utilize its output for smartwatches.

Apple will release this new smartwatch in the near fourth quarter of this year alongside the iPhone 16 series.
