Volkswagen ID.2 all-electric car is en route to release in 2025 and it will bring a better design than the concept said Andreas Mindt, Head of Design at Volkswagen Passenger Cars.

Mindt told Autocar that the new model looks even better than the concept created in about six weeks and premiered in early 2023. However, the Volkswagen team is working in line with the dimensions shared for this model.

The design chief confirmed that ID.2 has completed the design process and the company is now looking forward to the production phase preparations.

The car has a 160km/h top speed and measures 4,050mm in length, 1,812mm in width, 1,530mm in height, and 2,600mm in wheelbase. The concept model specifications include 490 to 1,330-liter storage volumes and 225/40 R20 wheels. This EV is likely to deliver 450 kilometers WLTP range and with fast charging, the car can fill 10-80 percent capacity in around 20 minutes.

The concept featured a C-pillar design used in the first Volkswagen Golf. The interior has classic volume control, a separate air conditioning block, and more. It will use IQ.LIGHT, eRoute planner, and Travel Assist for automated driving.

This Volkswagen model is one of the ten EV models planned to launch by 2026. Last year, the company introduced ID.3, ID. Buzz with long wheelbase and ID.7. A compact electric SUV is planned for 2026 and a 20,000 euro car in the following year.
