Rivian R1 Refresh will bring new charging pad
Rivian R1 Refresh models will come with a new charging pad solution that could resolve flaws found in the existing R1S and R1T models.
This has been a major problem in Rivian R1S and R1T electric vehicles since the beginning. When a user puts a phone for wireless charging it gets disconnected due to the acceleration or deceleration of the car.
Even small bumps could disturb the charging stream due to the slippery base. The problem could become severe if you have an iPhone with that camera bump continuously moving the phone around the charging pad.
Images from Rivian R1S Refresh leaked online show that the company has introduced a new charging pad under the center console. The pad has a separator and placeholder. This new charging pad would easily hold two phones side by side with a separate one in the middle.
However, the slippery base remains and the bump problem may continue. We need to see the new change when it is released with the model. Rivian is preparing to release R1S and R1T with numerous upgrades including the front headlights and taillights. The wheels will get bigger options for maximized performance. The refreshed models will launch this month.
