A new picture shows the Rivian R1S and R1S Refresh side-by-side comparison and reveals substantial information about the new characteristics of the Refresh version.

Rivianforums user @DrBluey shared images including a new black variant of Rivian R1S Refresh. The uploader confirmed that the model was spotted in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Let’s take a look at the difference between these two Rivians.

Rivian has redesigned the headlights for the refreshed model. The existing R1S comes with a wide light bar and stadium headlights. Refresh on the other hand carries this feature but with slightly increased height and depth on the bottom.

The front is also uplifted from the existing R1S. The Refresh model also has flat corners on the left and right sides. Turn indicators have been revamped in the Refresh model, distincting from R1S.

The bumper has a new definition and no towing hooks on the front. Amid these optimizations, the front fascia of the Refresh model is looking wider than its counterpart.

This side-by-side comparison teases what Rivian has planned with this refreshed R1S. The company may bring more features when the model is unveiled somewhere this month. Until then, you can explore some more information.

Rivian R1S Refresh will come with a new charging port with a detach button to remove the charger. This car will continue the CCS port but supports NACS charging via an adapter. Rivian has adopted NACS by default on the R2 and R3 series.

Previous documents reveal that the Rivian R1S series will come in two wheel sizes – 20-inch and 22-inch. Meanwhile, the company has no plans to bring a 21-inch version. It will equip a 92.5kWh LFP battery pack compared to the 106kWh battery used in the existing lineup. Furthermore, the car will deliver a heat pump as standard.
