Stellantis CEO, Carlos Tavares said the company plans to launch a $25,000 Jeep to mainstream its brand in the electric vehicle (EV) market. While speculating its launch, the CEO said this affordable Jeep could launch “very soon”.

This vehicle will be priced in line with the Steallantis Citroen e-C3 SUV which costs around 23,300 euros (around $25,200) in Europe.

The company will use the brand’s top technologies and design quality in this vehicle to maintain the user experience. It also offers an electric Avenger SUV in Europe starting at 35,000 euros (around $37,800). But it’s not listed this model for US customers.

After a boom in electric vehicle sales, the market is gradually turning slow for automakers. This is the reason why most of them are now searching for low-cost models to drive sales.

Making a low-cost car is one challenge but facing Chinese rivals is another. BYD and Nio are the two growing Chinese automakers making a trend in the EV market with their cheap models.

Travares said the company’s affordable EV option should start at 20,000 euros in Europe and $25,000 in the US. This will make it offer a competitive option against the Chinese rivals.

“Our job is to bring the safe, clean, and affordable BEV to the U.S. $25,000. We’ll do it” he mentioned.

Jeep is preparing to launch its all-electric Wagoneer S later this year and scheduled an unveiling on Thursday in New York. However, this EV will not be the one that Tavares talking about and we’ll have to wait for that model maybe a year or more.

Yesterday, Volkswagen also announced a 20,000 euros ($21,000) model for the mass EV market launching in 2027. The company aims to grab new EV market share and popularize its models among customers.
