Apple has allowed Samsung Display and LG Display for the display production of iPhone 16 Pro but still needs to decide on Pro Max.

The iPhone 16 series will be released in the second half of this year consisting of four models including the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max. Based on the information, Samsung will supply OLEDs for all four models, while LG will cover two Pro devices.

Meanwhile, both producers are waiting for approval to mass produce the iPhone 16 Pro Max, top-end model. Last year, LG Display received approval for the mass production of Pro lineup OLED for the iPhone 16 series several months later. It handed over the quantity to Samsung Display followed by a price increase.

This year’s iPhone 16 series will come with slight changes in display sizes including:

  • iPhone 16 – 6.1-inch screen
  • iPhone 16 Plus – 6.7-inch screen
  • iPhone 16 Pro  – 6.3-inch screen
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max – 6.9-inch screen

The report mentioned that Samsung could start preparations for iPhone 16 Pro Max OLED production by this month. On the other hand, LG Display could make moves in the middle of next month.

The approval process could be a challenge for LG Display compared to Samsung. However, it could be crucial for Apple to diversify it supply chain.
