Automaker Nissan has paused the development of two battery-powered electric sedans but the release for a new crossover is coming soon.

These sedans are part of five electric vehicles planned for the US market and the company says it’s adjusting the timeline of releasing these new models. It says these electric sedans are still in development but expecting SUVs to rollout way earlier.

The launch of next-generation electric models will take place at its Canton, Mississippi factory, which may not require heavy investment.

In April, Nissan reported the first quarter of 2024 deliveries. The company delivered 252,735 units through the first three months of the year with an increase of 7.2 percent compared to 2023. This figure represents a 44.8 percent year-over-year improvement for Ariya electric crossover.

A month earlier, Nissan revealed “The Arc” business plan to launch new electric models through 2030. The company plans to develop EVs in series including powertrains, next-generation modular manufacturing, group sourcing, and battery innovation to reduce the cost of next-gen EVs by 30 percent through 2030.

The carmaker has planned to release 30 new models over the next three years including 16 new electric vehicles. The company has a roadmap of a total of 34 electrified models ranging launch schedule from 2024 to 2030 in all segments including a mix of electrified vehicles.
