FSD for Tesla Cybertruck could launch this year

Tesla today gave an update on the Full Self Driving (FSD) rollout for its first Cybertruck electric pickup truck, which could be released this year with a software update.

Tesla CEO, Elon Musk has come up with an answer on this matter saying “Cybertruck FSD is a few months away”. This comment follows Musk’s priority-based FSD development for the pickup truck. He said that Tesla must focus on FSD for the other 99% of the fleet.

This comment brings back Musk’s December 2023 statement which mentioned “Cybertruck is necessarily the lowest priority for FSD, as there are only a few hundred Cybertruck in the field compared to 5 million other Teslas.”

Tesla began Cybertruck deliveries in early December but only sent the vehicle without autopilot despite Tesla promoting this capability with new units. When you access the “Autopilot” settings, the FSD settings appear but it’s disabled.

An on-screen message says “Full Self-Driving (BETA) will be available in an upcoming software update”. However, Cybertruck owners are still waiting for this software release. Since FSD for Tesla is the lowest priority, the company may take more than a few months to roll this out for Cybertruck.

It depends on testing and verification of the FSD model designed for the pickup truck, so in worst case scenario, Tesla should launch this release this update by this year if not next.
