Facelift Kia EV6 to feature 84 kWh battery pack
Kia is about to reintroduce EV6 electric vehicle with an increased range featuring an 84 kWh battery pack, reveals a Korean regulatory certificate. TheKoreanCarBlog reports that the new Kia EV6 will get updated battery capacity, which is already seen with the Hyundai IONIQ 5.
The new EV6 is certified with 505 km of driving range which is 26 kilometers more than the existing EV6 model. It’s expected that the model range could increase when it launches in the US or Europe. The suggested new range could touch up to 370 miles EPA (around 600km WLTP) with rear-wheel drive configuration and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Last week, Kia shared teaser images of the new EV6 showing the silhouette of the version and the design of the front and rear lamps. This model will come with daytime running lights (DRLs) inheriting the new starmap signature lighting for a dynamic look.
The company introduced EV6 in August 2021 and it was the first dedicated eV model based on Hyundai Motor’s EV platform E-GMP.
The car became the first Korean brand to win the European Car of the Year award in 2022 and the North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year in the SUV category in 2023. The high-performance version EV6 GT won the “World Performance Car” at the 2023 World Car Awards and was recognized for its competitiveness in the global electric vehicle market.
Kia will release the facelift EV6 product specifications and design by this month.
“EV6, developed based on E-GMP, a platform dedicated to electric vehicles, has received various awards and favorable reviews in the global region,” said a Kia official.
