Rivian CEO, RJ Scaringe shared a comment on a recent potential partnership speculation with tech giant Apple related to electric vehicle (EV) products.

During a brief interview with CNBC on Tuesday, Scaringe was asked by host Andrew Ross about the speculated report for these partners. The Rivian chief remained subtle and said “We don’t comment on market rumors or speculation”.

However, Scaringe later mentioned that Rivian has a history of partnership citing Amazon for the EDVs. He further confirmed that Rivian is open to any partnership based on the company’s business scope.

A report from Digitimes speculates that Rivian and Apple are under discussion for a potential business partnership. Specific details of this partnership are not revealed by the source. Despite no clarification, the report gathered attention from the mainstream media due to Apple’s recent decision to halt the rumored car project.

For years, Apple was speculated for self-developing electric vehicles with fully autonomous technology. Despite these rumors, the product was never launched or teased.

These rumors ended earlier this year when a report suggested the company had given up on its ambitious car project. It is expected that the company has spent billions of dollars on this car project before quitting.

Since its first vehicle, Rivian has shown immense potential in the EV market with the success of its R1S and R1T vehicles. The company also announced an R2 midsize SUV in March, which will start deliveries in the first half of 2026.

Interestingly, Apple is making new changes in its Normal Illinois manufacturing facility and upgrades to support cost control for future lineups. Other aspects of a potential partnership could come as the next generation CarPlay. However, there’s no confirmation available on any of these reports.
