Apple could use a 6.55-inch screen for next year’s iPhone 17 Slim, speculated to replace the long-standing “Plus” model. This release could mean the company may look for a new differentiator in the series.

Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young said that the iPhone 17 Slim model will use a 6.55-inch screen, which could be 0.15-inch smaller than the current scale planned for the iPhone 16 Plus (via – Macrumors).

iPhone 17 Slim was first mentioned by Haitong International Securities Analyst Jeff Pu, who said the device will use a 6.6-inch screen. Despite not claiming the specific dimensions, Pu’s input could be aligned with Ross’s revelation.

Last year, Apple released the iPhone 15, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max. These devices come with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen sizes on the first and second half of the four models. This year, Apple will differentiate the device sizes with new changes.

It is reported that iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will retain 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen sizes. However, iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will feature new 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screens. That’s a sign that Apple wants to be specific about iPhone models with the next generation.

Previous information suggests that the iPhone 16 series will focus on camera upgrades and new design refinement compared to its predecessor. The company will also introduce new AI features with these devices to stand tough in the generative AI competition.

But the iPhone 17 Slim could be the real differentiator for the whole lineup. Its 6.55-inch screen option could be adaptive for all types of customers. That’s not it, the name Slim may refer to some new aesthetic upgrades compared to standard, Pro, and Pro Max models.

It could be a new rear texture, a new display, or maybe some new technologies. There’s plenty to speculate as it will unveil in late 2025.
