Tesla announces Quicksilver Long Rang and Performance Model Y in US
Tesla has officially announced a new Quicksilver paint option for Model Y EV in the US. However, it’s available only for Long Range of All-wheel Drive (AWD) and Performance variants.
This new color uses a high concentration of metallic flakes, likely aluminum. It reflects light and creates the color’s shine and shift. Tesla says Quicksilver has a 13-layer paint process that involves coating, a clear coat, and various metallic and color layers to bring depth and dimensions to the aesthetics of this electric vehicle.
With this announcement, the color is available in the configurator to select at an additional $2,000 price. Also, the car now has six paints to choose from including the following:
- Stealth Gray – Standard
- Pearl White Multi-Coat – $1,000
- Deep Blue Metallic – $1,000
- Solid Black – $1,500
- Ultra Red – $2,000
A week ago, Tesla brought this color exclusively for Tesla Model Y inventory models. The selection was still limited to these two all-wheel drivetrains. However, now it’s available in the configurator.
Tesla Model Y is priced at $47,990 for Long Range AWD and $51,490 for the Performance version. The vehicle is eligible to claim a $7,500 tax credit and afterward, the price will change to:
- $40,490 for the Long Range RWD post-tax credit
- $43,990 for the Performance version after tax credit
You can also lease these two models for $429 and $509 per month.
