Tesla improves Cybertruck frunk sensors to save fingers from panel edges
Tesla has recently released the Spring 2024 software update for Cybertruck and it comes with new improvements for frunk sensors to reduce any harm to the fingers from panel edges. Tesla gave new exclusive Cybertruck accessory access to the Top Gear channel, and a video posted on X demonstrates new improvements in action.
The demonstrator placed a soft object like a banana between the side panel and the frunk edge. The frunk began to close but reverted as soon as it touched the banana. That was a really quick reaction and opposite of what we saw a month ago.
Tesla has improved the Cybertrucks frunk sensing so that it won’t close even on soft objects like a Banana.
All Cybertrucks get this update in Tesla’s Spring software update (2024.14.3), which is rolling out now. https://t.co/VFsVMXEck2 pic.twitter.com/0gZNGoRjF0

Backstory
A YouTuber Doug Demuro posted a video clip showing the dangers of Cybertruck’s front trunk. He says that the trunk doesn’t stop at anything while closing to the very end. Demuro also mentioned that it could even cut through the skin.
Another YouTuber verified this complaint by putting his finger between the frunk’s edge and the side panel. The frunk closed onto the fingers and made slight bruises without cutting through the skin.
The functionality has been improved compared to before and it’s looking way better than before.
