Google updates Gemini Chatbot with New Countries, Languages and Extensions
Google has released a new update for the Gemini Large Language Model chatbot by extending its availability in new countries, more languages, and extension support.
Gemini is now available in a new list of markets including Canada. Users can load this app on their Android devices and start using Gemini. It enables text-to-text conversations, voice answers, search for images, and learn more about them.
Android users can also use Google Assistant to use Gemini, triggered the app and it will allow you to switch to Gemini mode. iOS users will also be able to access Gemini through the Google app. However, this capability will be available through an update over the next few weeks.
The current language support has been extended to nine overall including:
- Chinese
- English
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Portuguese
- Spanish
You can write and chat in all these languages and receive answers.
Extensions
Another major change in this update comes as “Extensions”. These will provide real-time information from Google apps and services including YouTube, Map, Flights, Gmail, Docs, and more. For example, the Gmail extension will find and summarize answers for your content. You can enable and disable these extensions from Gemini’s settings menu.
Furthermore, the company has focused on some interactive elements in the Chrome browser by bringing a prompt shortcut. You can now type @gemini followed by your prompt in Chrome’s address bar and it will redirect you to the response screen on the Gemini web app.

Earlier this year, Google released a generative image feature for Gemini and the company had to discontinue this feature due to some issues in the generative model. However, there are no new updates shared on the release of an improved generative feature.
