iOS 18 to upgrade Photos, Mail and other system apps
Apple has prepared an upgrade for pre-installed system apps with the iOS 18 operating system, says Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The next iOS will focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, these will reflect on common functionalities of the software to improve productivity and interactiveness.
Gurman reports that popular apps including Photos, Mail, Notes, and Fitness will be a part of this new overhaul campaign. The company will also introduce a new Calculator app with feature enhancements.
Apple has long been due to make major changes in iOS, especially in customizations and the user interface. Previous reports suggest that iOS 18 will prioritize the development of these two aspects. The software will bring the capability to rearrange app icons without layout restrictions and new changes in the home screen customizations.
When it comes to customizations and design changes, Apple doesn’t like to leave its safe house. Behind the scenes, the company focuses on making the software robust and fast.
AI integration will help Apple to improve tasks such as global search via Spotlight. It could sort out search results faster from the device and make them diverse consisting of different types of files, web searches, apps, and suggestions.
Siri voice assistant could also see fast and comprehensive responses after this upgrade. We will get more insights on this new upgrade for system apps when Apple releases iOS 18 on June 10 at WWDC24.
